SMALL WOOD FALCON

Polychrome painted seated falcon in red, blue-green and black, attached with one big wood dowel to a ‘feathered base’. Both pieces originally belonging to a large Ptah-Sokar-Osiris statue, but joined together in 1854 in Egypt as written at the underside of the so-called base in black ink.

Dim. 13,2 x 6,5 cm.

Ex priv. coll. UK, acquired before 1990, thence coll. FHA, Netherlands since 2002.
