POLYCHROME WOOD PANEL WITH GODDESS NUT
Fragment from outside bottom of sarcophagus. Decorated with a standing figure of the sky-goddess NUT, mother of Isis and Osiris, wearing black wig and banded vase on her head, being part of the name ‘NU’, holding a long cord with a large lotusflower pendant; clad in close-fitting ‘sexy’ dress of tile design in blue, red, white and black colors. Some discoloring and part of upper right corner broken off, otherwise intact.
Ex priv. coll. of the late Prof. H.F.G.J. v.d. E, Netherlands, acquired before 1974, thence by descent.
